Caribbean Cruise

The week of Thanksgiving, I worked aboard a cruise ship as Youth Staff. I began the journey in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where the ship was in port to leave for the Caribbean. I arrived at my hotel in Florida alone. It was a nice Hilton Hotel and I had a king size bed all to myself. I did not have internet access, a car, or again anyone to be with. So, I spent most of the night at the hotel bar, chatting with the hotel employees. I felt inspired by my journey that I was embarking on, so I decided I wanted to take a go at doing some art again. I have not done any art in a year s
ince I moved into my parents house because I have been sad and uninspired.

So my first try at art again is on the bottom. It is a collage of beach imagery, a drawing of a palm tree outside my hotel room, and one of my favorite phone book characters (running away).

The next day, I got on a bus with a bunch of people I did not know and boarded the ship. Cruise ships are weird, in my opinion. The crew areas creep me out, and all of the passenger areas are trying to be nice but can't quite get past this Vegas trashy look. Anyways, my job was to entertain the teenagers on the ship. The Teen Room was pretty awesome. There were about 13 PS3's a, 2 foosball tables, an air hockey table, an obscene amount of TV's, games, a juke box, and a DJ booth. So, it was fun. I got to get off the ship and go to the beach on 3 different occasions on the 7 day trip (Princess Cays, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas).

When I was in St. Maarten I sketched the architecture of a couple buildings while laying on the beach. This sketch is in the middle.

Lastly, the sketch on the top was an automatic drawing I did on the lido deck while everyone else was on the beach in Grand Turk. I had to work that day.

This is a video of the shuttle to a beach in St. Thomas. <3
